Synopsis

Here, the lives of French Queens of England such as Eleanor of Aquitaine, Isabella the 'She-Wolf of France' and Catherine de Valois are described with fresh insight. Meanwhile, the non-famous French people, who nonetheless shaped the culture of England's capital are honoured with a thorough study of their cultural habits. From William the Conqueror through to London as the capital of the Free French during World War Two, this book honours a large but little-studied people; the French in London.
