Synopsis
The latest literary sensation from Switzerland: brilliant young novelist Quentin Mouron (25) with his fifth work of fiction, his first crime novel, brilliantly reviewed and well received in France and Switzerland. This is the first time his work is available in English.
Breaking with many conventions of the genre, the novel holds a satirical mirror to society by entering the minds of two men at the edge of sanity. Sheriff McCarthy, a church-going family man, is trying to keep a boundary between the sordidness of his investigations and his private life. He is also trying to keep faith in human nature. But Franck, willing to kill for the sake of a good pun, dominates the story. He is a disturbing, violent, decadent character, a man always rushing to the bathroom for another line of coke, revealing the darker workings of the case with a blood curdling laugh.

À propos de l'auteur
Quentin Mouron is a poet and a novelist. He was born in Lausanne in 1989 and is Swiss and Canadian. In 2011 he won the prix Alpes-Jura for his novel Au point d effusion des égouts. He has written three other highly acclaimed novels before Three Drops of Blood and a Cloud of Cocaine. W. Donald Wilson is a translator from Canada. Among his many works are the translations of two novels by Prix Goncourt winner Jacques Chessex, A Jew Must Die and The Vampire of Ropraz, and With the Animals by Noëlle Revaz.

Paul and Franck come to the same conclusion; perhaps a psychopath is at work, a conclusion reinforced when a second, similar murder is committed. It looks like the work of an artist, killing purely to escape suburban ennui. Franck dominates the story, a disturbing, edgy, totally decadent character, always over dressed, an actor with too much make-up, a man always rushing to the bathroom for another line of coke, revealing the darker workings of Watertown and of the case with a blood curdling laugh.
