Synopsis

For Grimwood Streep, life at Dunnydark Hall has lost some of its sparkle. The cook produces nothing but mulligatawny soup for breakfast, lunch and tea. His butler needs dusting, and he hasn’t had a visitor since 1977. But things are about to change. One sunny morning, a boy arrives, and life will never be the same again. A Boy Arrives is a gentle, funny and touching story to delight children and adults alike. Longlisted for The Times/Chicken House Best Children’s Book.

À propos de l?auteur

Stephen Meek was born in Cleethorpes in 1966. He graduated in Zoology from Sheffield University in 1988. He has worked in the offices of the Automobile Association, as a double glazing salesman and in the fruit and veg section of a supermarket on the outskirts of London. He suffered from M.E. and was housebound for 5 years between 1995 and the year 2000. Now largely recovered he lives in the middle of nowhere with his wife Ruth, a lawyer, and a round orange cat called Buster. His interests include wildlife-watching, Grimsby Town Football Club, and boring everyone to death by talking about classical music in too much detail. He spends most of his time staring out of the window and taking Buster to the vets. Occasionally he writes a book and has written a volume of poetry, a fantasy novel for children and two adult novels. He is very tall but also quite fat, which makes finding trousers that fit very difficult. His ambition is to be crowned King of England.
