Synopsis

A thought provoking and inspiring story written for emerging readers, particularly those who are offenders, disaffected or at risk. Ken had a happy life. But then he found out a secret that changed everything. Now he is in prison for murder. Josh is new in prison. He doesn't think he should be there. When the two men meet, Ken tells Josh his secret. Could it be the key to their freedom? A story line that will appeal to adults but written at an appropriate level for those who are emerging readers, roughly the level that the National Curriculum would expect at ages 7 to 11. Deals with the key issues of 'identity' and 'father-figures', which will resonate with the target readers, many of whom have grown up without a positive father figure in their lives. The story has parallels with the story of Moses. These can be drawn out in a Christian environment but will not be intrusive for those who want to read the book in a secular setting.
