Synopsis

This edited volume brings together several scholars who produced outstanding ethnographies of Andean communities between the 1970s and 2000s and asks them to revisit, review, and reassess their original works in the light of contemporary anthropology, focusing on different academic and personal aspects of their ethnographies. This book also offers a review of the evolution and role of community ethnographies in the context of Andean anthropology, and in doing so, aims to reflect on these changes and on their contribution to the study of Andean culture.

À propos de l'auteur

Francisco Ferreira is an independent researcher and lecturer specialising in Andean ethnography. His fields of interest include highland communities, political violence and cocalero areas, especially in Peru. He worked for several years in museum jobs in Britain before completing a PhD in Andean Ethnography at the University of London. He is currently living in Galicia (Spain), and working on a research and media project about the political and social effects of the ongoing Great Recession there.
