Jeremy Raison is a writer and director working across film, television and theatre. Jeremy was Artistic Director of the Glasgow Citizens Theatre for seven years during which time the company nearly tripled its box office, was nominated for seventy three awards and toured to Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa, Germany and the USA, as well as the West End. He also ran Chester Gateway Theatre for four years for which he won the TMA/Stage Award for Outstanding Achievement in Regional Theatre. Highlights of his career have included working with Roald Dahl, Dirk Bogarde and Ralph Fiennes, directing at the National Theatre, making an award winning film, Small Moments, being drawn by celebrated Scottish artist and writer Alasdair Gray, and working in Iran, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, South Africa, Denmark and Italy. Other awards and nominations include the Marrakech Film Festival Gold Star, Manchester Evening News Best Touring Production, Liverpool Post and Echo Best Production (twice), BBC Radio 4 Young Playwrights Awards, Plays and Players Best Children's Play Award, Real to Reel Best International Short Film, CATS Awards Best production for Children and Young People. He is the author of more than 30 plays including The Rain Gathering (National Theatre, Traverse, Radio 4), The Sound of My Voice (Citizens, Assembly), Blitz (Traverse), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Sadlers Wells, national touring), Don Juan (Citizens), Heart and Soul (Chester Gateway), Wake Me In the Morning (Oran Mor), Therese Raquin (Citizens), Jumping Jack Flash (Liverpool Everyman), Savage Britannia (National Theatre Studio, Mandela), A Distant Shore (National Theatre Studio) and A Child of Europe (Theatre Workshop).
