The Diarist is the product of a marriage between the houses of Cornwall and Somerset. His parents discovered early on that they would have preferred a child, so he was raised by lamas in the wilderness of West London. Spurning school at the age of eleven, he spent his formative years salting pilchards and baiting crab pots until, at the age of twenty five, he worked out why people were avoiding him. Adopting a life of heavy drinking and enforced celibacy he discovered that there were worse ways of earning a living and spent 25 years doing one of them. As if that wasn t punishment enough he bought a shop in West Cornwall where he continues to live and occasionally work with a long suffering bleddy hound and a wife he takes for longs walks.
