Synopsis
The Stanton’s Revenge, is the second book in the Stanton Story and is set in the mid seventeenth century against a backdrop of the frequently flooded, though always magical Somersetshire Levels, abounding as they do even today with waterfowl and wild flowers. The story charts the many and varied family problems that arise as a result of the disastrous marriage between Beatrice Stanton, only daughter of Sir Marcus Stanton and Inigo Olivares, an Irish soldier of fortune. You will be a witness to the bitter conflict that arises between the Parliamentary ‘Enforcers’ and the ‘Guardians’, a militia commanded by the much put upon, Colonel Guy Stanton. As each side attempts to wrest control of the villages and towns of the Levels from the other. Behind these two major conflicts you will catch a glimpse of the lies and double dealing taking place in Parliament itself, which ultimately affect every person in England, from the undeservingly rich to the despairingly poor.
