Three of them, Pato, Cáccamo and Creus, have already made a name for themselves as poets whose new work is often groundbreaking, always exciting. The other three poets, although younger, have distinguished themselves

by winning some important literary prizes, as well as the respect of their peers. The combination of poets of different generations in this anthology is particularly apt in that it reflects the Galician preference for literary collaboration, and here we can see not only a mutual influence but a sharing of common concerns.

Keith Payne (translator) is a graduate of the M. Phil in Creative Writing, Trinity College, Dublin. His poetry, translations, essays and reviews have appeared in The Irish Times, The Dublin Review of Books, The Trinity Journal of Literary Translation, Forked Tongues: Galician, Catalan and Basque Women s Poetry in Translations by Irish Writers, Ed. Manuela Palacios, (Shearsman, 2012,) Mountain-Islandglacier, (Broken Dimanche Press, 2012) and stories from Victor Balcells Matas Yo mataré monstrous por ti, (I will kill monsters for you, Editorial Delirio, 2010.) He has represented Ireland at a number of international festivals in Spain and Mexico, and is a recipient of Arts Council of Ireland funding for professional development. He lives in Vigo, Galicia with his partner, musician Su Garrido Pombo.

Editor Manuela Palacios is Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. She has directed three research projects on contemporary Irish and Galician women writers that have been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and has edited and co-edited several books in relation to this topic: Pluriversos (2003), Palabras extremas (2008), Writing Bonds (2009), Creation, Publishing and Criticism (2010), To the Winds Our Sails (2010) and Forked Tongues (2012). Three of the former volumes are collections of translated poetry. Her other publications include translations of European poetry and fiction, such as Virginia Woolf s To the Lighthouse (1993), a trilingual anthology of Estonian poetry (2002), and Los ritos de los sentidos, an illustrated anthology of Arabic poetry (Trifolium 2014).
