Research shows that people with intellectual disabilities die on average much younger than the general population, and that over 40% of these deaths are considered premature. STEVE HARDY is a Consultant Nurse in Learning Disabilities at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. He has worked in mental health services for people with learning disabilities for the past two decades and has widely published in this area.

EDDIE CHAPLIN is Professor of Mental Health in Neurodevelopmental Disorders at London South Bank University. He has extensive clinical experience in mental health services for individuals with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders across the lifespan.

PETER WOODWARD is Senior Lecturer for Learning Disabilities at the University of Greenwich. He has worked as a nurse in forensic and challenging behaviour services, and as a training officer supporting adults with learning disabilities and their mental health needs.
