Synopsis

In this book the author pursues his long-held objective of investigating the more obscure and unpublished aspects of Stevenston’s history. The Hayocks, which comprises both a significant area and population of the town, has been repeatedly neglected by previous researchers. This volume can be considered an attempt to rectify this situation and stimulate future investigation.

Alex McLatchie, a Stinston man who spent his early years in the Hayocks, not only paints a solid historical portrait of the area, but provides an insight into the personalities who have moulded its character and development.

This book will be of considerable interest to the residents of the area.
