D. Ben Rees was born in Llanddewi Brefi, Ceredigion. He is well known as an author, writing in both Welsh and English and as a minister of the Presbyterian Church in Wales. He spent his ministry in Cwm Cynon (1962-8) and, since 1968 amongst the Liverpool Welsh.
