Synopsis

Eastern Spirituality and Western Psychology offers a practical path to harmony between spirituality and Western psychology, between heart and mind. This book:

  • challenges basic assumptions of Western psychology
  • demystifies Vedic psychology
  • presents how Eastern spirituality can enhance Western psychology

It guides readers by clarifying the relationship between spirituality and psychological growth, and demonstrates that psychotherapy and spirituality are complementary aspects of human development, with both essential for optimum mental, existential, and spiritual growth. It is up to everyone to take responsibility for making the changes that enable us to contribute to the well-being of the whole.

In this insightful book, the authors reflect on this revolution and consider how it is likely to evolve in the future. It paves the way for those interested in the transpersonal, whether psychologists, psychotherapists, Orientalists, or spiritual practitioners.

As the book says, "We are all starved of one and the same thing, 'love, ' where all differences dissolve." The message of hope given is Vasudhaiva kutumbakam ("The world is one family") and if, at last, you are able to see through the falsity of multiplicity, Oneness will then be revealed to you.

As a Self-Realised expression of consciousness, Tiger Dragon Storm's journey to finding the truth of what we are, began after a life changing trip to Asia turned his world around. Visiting temples and studying philosophers and self-realised beings from the Buddha to Confucius, Tiger's understanding of reality shifted from a moderate interest in the spiritual world to full on seeking of that truth which exist beyond mind. That truth that the Buddha seems to know so well. Upon returning to England his place of birth, he dove into various spiritual systems ranging from Wicca, western shamanism, and African and Indian spirituality to name a selection. But it wasn't until walking the path of Self-Enquiry that he reached Enlightenment/Self-Realisation. Fully aware that terms such as "Enlightened" or "Self-Realised" are both redundant from the one true perspective of the all that is, pure consciousness. For in having a so-called "awakening" experience that hasn't left, one realises that there's more to the idea of what a "person" is. At the same time, Tiger Dragon Storm is not going to hide the knowing that pure wisdom now flows through his body. Hence his desire to share with the world. He feels its most important to experience any knowledge or wisdoms that one receives from another, via Self-Enquiry, which is to see for oneself if what information being expressed is true. For truth belongs to no Guru or "enlightened being". This is why his books focus on giving the reader a way to confirm for themselves the truth that he speaks. TDS (Tiger Dragon Storm), underwent a transformation in consciousness and enlightened understanding that he wishes to lovingly share with the world. An energy body healer, author, movement specialist, spiritual mentor and philosopher always learning and honing his skills to become the best instrument of consciousness that he can.
