Synopsis

Brand new for 2021, The Dementia Care Training Library is a unique suite of modular, person-centred, dementia-specific content designed to equip health and social care services professionals to deliver in-house training. All materials take an experiential approach, providing a balance of information and action learning activities that enable trainees to reflect on and apply new knowledge in real time as a team, and to ultimately make changes to everyday practice in the care environment.

The Starter Pack provides the Dementia Care Training Library master binder along with a General Introduction and two foundation modules, ‘The Lived Experience of Dementia’ and ‘Communication and Behaviours Viewed as Challenging’. Together these core modules contain the resources needed for 30 hours of training, and offer an essential grounding for all those involved in working with individuals with dementia and their families. Having delivered these modules, trainers can then choose from a range of further modules, available separately, that explore a wide range of specific issues relating to person-centred approaches in dementia care.

Featuring a wealth of slides and worksheets, all of them downloadable from a dedicated companion website, The Dementia Care Training Library offers a new, distinctive and contemporary approach to the design and delivery of dementia care training.
