Synopsis

HOW TO HELP young people become confident, capable learners...

‘Learning to learn’ is critical to success in education, and later in the workplace. Yet it is easily overlooked in a busy curriculum, and this can lead to underachievement. Young people can fall short of their potential not through a lack of effort, but because they have not sufficiently understood their own learning requirements and planned accordingly. But how can we as responsible adults ensure that the young people in our care develop the learning skills needed to realise their full potential?

Part of an exciting new series of books examining issues commonly faced by today’s children and young people at home and in school, Effective Study and Learning provides a practical, jargon-free guide to helping individuals study effectively through childhood, young adulthood and beyond. Highlighting why learning style is critical to success, and incorporating proven scientific ideas with regard to memory, learning environments and learning processes, acclaimed psychologists Gavin Reid and Jennie Guise explore a wide range of topics including mindset, motivation, revision skills and exam techniques – and show any parent, carer, teacher or school HOW TO HELP.
