John Howe is a Canadian book illustrator and conceptual designer, and the world's foremost Tolkien artist. Not only has he illustrated Tolkien, but has designed cards for Magic the Gathering and has worked extensively on board game projects for Sophisticated Games.

He was the lead graphic designer on both the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.
