Jack Jones has a rare condition that prevents him feeling pain. He is, however, deeply troubled. As a young child, his mother left to marry sadistic dentist Frank, who bullied and abused Jack throughout childhood. Jack's maternal grandmother knew what was happening, and did nothing to step in. As an adult, Jack works as a criminal defence paralegal. When he hears news of his grandmother's death, it worsens his already conflicted sense of moral priorities. Jack is fed up with criminals getting away with their crimes, and even more fed up that he himself helps this happen.
One night shortly after the funeral, Jack is seriously beaten in a McDonalds carpark by a group of yobs. The police officer assigned to investigate is PC Rachel Slater. Jack realises that they have an attraction to each other.
Back at work, Jack is sent to the police station to represent a suspect arrested for robbery. When he gets to the police station, it turns out that the suspect is the ring-leader from the assault he suffered in the McDonalds carpark. The youth does not recognise him, but by now, Jack already has the kid's personal details.
So begins his quest for vengeance, leading inevitably to the creation of The Revengelist.
