Synopsis

This is the debut novel of author Richard Collis and one not to miss!

Perfect for teenagers and adults alike, this is a story of growing up, about choosing love or responsibility, but ultimately about the power of Nature.

Kathryn says "Wow, what a great read, I couldn't put it down...so visual, evocative and perfectly paced - so good!"

The city of Fenwood has thrived under the rule of its beloved Queen, but each day she grows weaker with age and sickness and seemingly no-one can save her. Her daughter, Ivy, has always shied away from her responsibilities and now appears unaware of her duty, turning instead to the pull of the natural world outside of the city boundaries and a growing romance after a chance encounter. As evil, corruptive forces manoeuvre their way into the city, Ivy must choose between love and responsibility, as death and destruction threaten to tear Fenwood apart.

About the author

Richard has lived in Portishead with his wife and 2 sons for 9 years, having previously lived and worked in London. He has been a secondary school English teacher for 18 years since completing his teacher training after graduating with a degree in English, Film and Drama from Reading University. A keen reader, film fanatic and avid sports fan, Richard enjoys devoting his time to his family, but has relished the opportunity to have his first book published. The Pool was an idea formed as a young man and he is proud that it is to be his debut novel.
