In this book, Windy Dryden charts his development as a single-session therapist by presenting his key articles and chapters on single-session therapy (SST). Beginning with an up-to-date overview of SST, he then presents and comments on his very early work doing REBT-based single sessions that were not informed by the single-session therapy mindset and, presents, for comparative purposes, a session that was informed by this mindset. Developing this theme, he presents a comprehensive outline of the SST mindset and includes an updated chapter exploring the relationship between SST and REBT.

Also, included in this book are chapters on the core skills needed to practise SST and Windy Dryden's experiences of practising SST in 'meet-up groups' and in an 'online health service'. Then, he considers the variety of names given to SST as well topics of keen interest to therapists: how to work with clients without 'opening up a can of worms' and how to deal with risk and harm in SST.
