Synopsis

Dive into Tales from the Meddahs, an enchanting collection of Turkish folk tales and legends that celebrates the rich storytelling tradition of the Middle East!

After two decades of collecting and sharing stories, I've curated this collection to preserve and present narratives that might otherwise be forgotten by English-speaking readers. Each tale is rooted in the post-Byzantine traditions of the Turkish people, reflecting timeless themes of magic, cunning, and love.

With sensitivity to historical context, I've adapted these stories for modern readers while staying true to their original spirit. You'll find full attributions for each tale, honoring the early collectors and providing insights into their cultural backgrounds.

Tales from the Meddahs is the first volume in a series dedicated to unveiling lost and forgotten tales from around the world. Join me on this journey to explore the universal threads that connect us all through storytelling-a legacy as ancient as humanity itself.
