Synopsis

One Hundred Years is a compelling and encompassing historical narrative that chronicles the different life experiences of enslaved peoples who resided on the various British Colonised West Indian Islands and on the continent of South America.

It speaks essentially of individuals who desired a better life following the abolition of slavery, and the enthusiasm with which opportunities were being embraced.

The story centres on a generation who in their thousands flocked to Panama to work on the American-led construction of the Panama Canal on the promise that they would be richly rewarded.

The savage actualities of their involvements, and subsequent 100-year struggle to achieve official recognition for their bloody sacrifices is illustratively documented within the narrative.
