Synopsis

Retelling life's story, ancestry and all

Losing a father young, meant standing up tall

Going to school, from the age of just six

Now living in Antwerp, the war in his midst

After two nights of bombing

The announcement was made

To leave Antwerp, only France would be safe

Destination was Roeselare, Sal cycled the whole way

Sal's Mother and Sister, however, would stay

The journey was fraught, sky bombers dived down

Machine guns pounding, thousands on the ground ...

Discover Papa Solly's life journey through his insightful telling memoire, and unique WWII diary and unifying poem.

Sal's diary was lost to his family for over 75 years with no knowledge of its existence. Unearthed in a completely chance discovery, fully translated and brought together with his memoire, to create an altogether fascinating read.
