The Nelson Boys is a gritty, six-part drama based on a suburban council estate in South London. This story follows the lead character, Vince Nelson's return to the estate from his self-exile to Thailand (via prison) for the first time in twenty years. There are a number of reasons he has not returned before, reasons that will soon become apparent. Vince is one of seven parentless brothers, brothers who have had to fend for themselves in a corrupt, isolated environment. Vince now finds himself at his brother Danny's bedside in hospital, where he is fighting for his life.
Danny is said to have been a victim of a mugging, or at least this is what the Nelson Boys are told. In the search for answers, Vince is on a one-man mission to get to the bottom of what has happened to Danny. However, Vince is about to discover he has been deserted by his closest friends, lied to by the people he loves, cheated on by the ones he holds dearest and punished for things he hasn't done.
Over the six episodes each character's intertwined backstory is pieced together through a series of flashbacks and confessions, to reveal the truth behind a series of events that some would have hoped to have been long forgotten. Vince comes with a tough reputation and a violent background and now, with a reason for returning, things are about to get interesting.

Daniel R. Lee (Danny) was born into a hardworking, middle-class family in the winter of 1970. He grew up on a locally distinguished council estate near Croydon in South London called New Addington. His early teenage years were spent at the Monks Hill High Comprehensive School. It was an education that was not only academic, but also personable and social. Danny followed his father, Dickie Lee, into the British film industry where he spent the first fifteen years of his working life. He learnt his trade at Cine Europe Ltd, a prestigious 16mm camera rental house in White City London. Here he gained the fundamental knowledge that enabled him to go freelance as a Clapper Loader on TV and film productions. Danny then worked on several productions around the world as a Clapper Loader, Focus Puller and then briefly as a Camera Operator. It was here he met his wife, who was an actress on one of the productions he was working on. Knowing the demands and strain the industry can put on relationships, he decided to leave filmmaking behind and support his wife's acting career, whilst pursuing other lines of work, predominantly towards sport.
Dr Clive Palmer is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Physical Education at the University of Central Lancashire. He draws upon his varied background in sport, engineering, the arts and philosophy to experiment with teaching ideas and creatively engage learners in their studies. Towards promoting academic confidence, he publishes student-centred writing which is where Clive's partnership with Danny started and brought this book in to being. Underpinning Clive's interests for physicality in learning, Clive has competed at national level in three sports; gymnastics, athletics and canoeing. From being an Apprentice Engineer in the RAF, he became a school teacher and since 2000, he has been lecturer and curriculum designer-come-research supervisor in Higher Education. He is also Visiting Professor to Hunan Normal University in Changsha, China, to promote cross-cultural research between staff and students by learning through Physical Education.
