Julie Anne Winterford was born in Mossley, a former industrial hill town on the outskirts of Greater Manchester and was educated at Ashton-under-Lyne Grammar School. She started writing short stories at a young age and her talent for storytelling has developed over decades. In this, her second published novel, she draws her inspiration once again from the Isle of Anglesey, with its abundant mystery and beauty serving as a backdrop to this continuing family drama. After many years as visitors, Julie and her husband are now Anglesey residents and she continues to write, now immersed in the environment she loves.
