Synopsis

I thought I was finally getting the hang of being a paranormal policewoman, but when one of the gemstones powering the barrier around the town is stolen, I’m as terrified as the average Joe. Of course, there’s nothing average about the Joes in this town because it’s chock full of mythical creatures – and some of them think the barrier is a waste of time.

Well, I’ve seen the cryptid monster and I know we’re doomed if that barrier ever fails and it comes through. The race is on: I need to find the gemstone before the palisade goes down and the fiend devours us all. No pressure, then.

A simple theft … how hard can it be to solve? It turns out to be very hard, especially when theft escalates into murder.

There’s also my date with the vampire leader, Connor, to think about – not to mention my best friend, Sidnee, who seems to be falling apart at the seams.

And if all of that isn’t enough to contend with, I’m expecting a visitor. My mother.

I’d rather face the monster…

Heather is an urban fantasy writer and mum. She was born and raised near Windsor, which gave her the misguided impression that she was close to royalty in some way. She is not, though she once she got a letter from Queen Elizabeth II's lady-in-waiting. Heather went to university in Liverpool, where she took up skydiving and met her future husband. When she's not running around after her children, she's plotting her next book and daydreaming about vampires, dragons and kick-ass heroines. Heather is a book lover who grew up reading Brian Jacques and Anne McCaffrey. She loves to travel and once spent a month in Thailand. She vows to return.

Jilleen Dolbeare writes urban fantasy and paranormal women's fiction. She loves stories with strong women, adventure, and humor, with a side helping of myth and folklore. While living in the Arctic, she learned to keep her stakes sharp for the 67 days of night. She talks to the ravens that follow her when she takes long walks with her cats in their stroller, and she's learned how to keep the wolves at bay.Jilleen lives with her husband and two hungry cats in Alaska where she also discovered her love and admiration of the Alaska Native peoples and their folklore.
