This book was inspired by a conversation with the author's son Ky.
Sharon's first son, Luca, was stillborn at full term in June 2012.
The following year they went on to have Ky, who has grown up knowing that he has an older brother who had passed away.
When Ky was almost 5 years old, he asked how his brother died.
This was a difficult conversation to have for Sharon. This conversation has become the dialogue for this book.
Sharon was eager to support parents, and teachers, to have this difficult conversation with children to encourage good mental health within families.
