The Life of John Wesley Hardin and Perilous Trails of Texas Two accounts of westerners and their times These two compratively short accounts of the wild days in the old southwest of America have been brought together in this Leonaur edition because the authors lived at the same time and comparatively close to one another in their state. That said, whilst both men lived exciting lives, their stories come from different perspectives. John Wesley Hardin, was one of the most infamous gunfighters and outlaws of his time. He killed his first man at just fifteen years old and before his violent career was over had probably killed over 20 more. Hardin was brought tojustice when he 23 years old and wrote the autobiography included in his book- possibly laced with advantages - when incarcerated.He was eventually released, and died as he lived, shot to death in El Paso, Texas in 1895. Red Dunn was also no stranger to frontier violence or having a six-gun in his hand as he faced the perils of the lawless Mexican borderlands as a trail-driver and as a lawman serving with the Texas Rangers.These two books make enthralling readingfor anyone fascinated by this period of authentic American frontier history.Leonaur editions are newly typeset and are not facsimiles; each title is available in softcover and hardback with dustjacket.
