'The Winds of Change' is an adventure/survival story set in a fictitious land of mountains, forests, and rocky spires. The main characters are a young boy (Nim) and an older girl (Aria) who live within a community of tall, rocky spires set amidst dangerous, impenetrable forests. Nim and Aria are constantly bickering with each other because they have completely different interests. Nim’s ambition is to become captain of one of the cruiser hot-air balloons that are crucial to the survival of the spire community, whereas Aria’s passions are music and dancing.
Neither Nim nor Aria could have predicted the sequence of events that would cause them to become stranded in the forest, miles from home and with no hope of rescue. Thrown together in such a perilous situation, they are forced to rely on each other in order to survive the forest’s many dangers, not least the sinister shadowfolk who inhabit the forests and are reputed to slay all who enter their domain.

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Learie, Gary (illustrateur). nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The 'Winds of Change' is the first book in the ten-book fantasy series called 'The Chronicles of Nim and Aria'. Nim and Aria are teenagers who live in an isolated spirefolk community called the Dawn Spires. Their home consists of a tight cluster of tall, rocky spires surrounded by dangerous forests and mountains. The survival and prosperity of the Dawn Spires community depend crucially on trade with other spire communities beyond the mountains by means of technologically advanced hot-air balloons. Land-based trade through the surrounding forests is impossible, as nobody venturing into that dark, sinister world is ever seen again. Therefore, when unforeseen circumstances leave Nim and Aria stranded in the heart of the forest, there seems little chance of their survival. The 'Winds of Change' follows the adventures and dangers faced by Nim and Aria as they make a desperate effort to find their way out of the forest before they are detected by the feared shadowfolk who are known to inhabit this dark, unfriendly world. This story is one of survival and of a growing bond of friendship between the two youngsters as they slowly come to appreciate each other's strengths and abilities. Ultimately, their fate is defined by a single event which has wide-reaching repercussions for both the shadowfolk and spirefolk communities. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781918609004
