Rybkin's Stereometry Problems is the set Russian students worked through alongside Kiselev's geometry textbook for generations. Kiselev gives the definitions, theorems, and proofs; Rybkin gives the problems that make those ideas concrete in space.
730 problems across 25 sections, organised through the geometry of space: perpendiculars and oblique lines to a plane; angles between lines and planes; parallel lines and planes; dihedral and polyhedral angles; regular polyhedra; parallelepipeds and prisms; pyramids and their frustums; cylinders, cones, and their frustums; the sphere and its parts; solids of revolution; volumes and surface areas; and mixed problems. Original problem numbering, units, notation, and the 46 figures are retained.
Why this book exists.
Plane geometry gives the reader a diagram; stereometry asks the reader to keep several planes, lines, and solids in relation at once. Rybkin's collection builds that habit in sequence. The early problems work with perpendiculars, projections, loci, and sections; later problems move through polyhedra, pyramids, frustums, cylinders, cones, spheres, volumes, and surface areas. The collection includes construction prompts, proof questions, and numerical exercises, with the difficulty rising as the geometry becomes more involved.
This is the first complete English translation of the volume, faithful to the original Russian edition. Every problem is translated in full; every figure is retained in numerical sequence; the original order, units, notation, and construction prompts remain. This is a problem-statements edition. The separate printed answer register is not included.
