Prefatory note about George Quaintance by the editors of Janssen Publishing [reprinted in German on last page] and a one page introductory essay "George Quaintance and his Art" by Tora Lillstrom. Illustrated throughout with black and white nude or semi-clad drawings of men in a neoclassical style. Third printing, the International edition. George Quaintance was an American artist, famous for his "idealized, strongly homo-erotic" depictions of men in mid-20th-century physique magazines and the stylistic and historical context of his art led many to refer to him as a "pioneer of a gay aesthetic".
