Synopsis
This is a comprehensive overview of Philip Beesley's pioneering collaborative architectural project: Hylozoic Ground. 'The Hylozoic Ground' experimental architecture series, developed by architect Philip Beesley, and expanded and refined by researchers, engineers and designers from around the world offers a vision for a new generation of responsive architecture. It is an immersive, interactive architectural installation fitted with an array of sensors and kinetic devices that move and breathe around the viewers, creating an environment can 'feel' and 'care'. Lightweight interlinking systems are interwoven with next-generation artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and interactive technology creating a stunning architectural environment that is nearly alive. This volume features a number of essays by theorists and designers, numerous photographs, and detailed design documents of the evolving project.
