Synopsis
The paintings of Abe Kakepetum and the words of his wife Eva work together to create a picture of the traditions and ideals of our First Nations people. In an effort to ensure that the next generation preserves those beliefs, Abe and Eva have produced this book. It can be read by people of all ages who desire to have a better understanding of our connection to Mother Earth.

À propos de l'auteur
Eva Kakepetum is a non-registered Métis whose roots extend to the Ojibwa Tribe of the Bad River Reserve in Wisconsin, U.S.A. Her name in the language is Mahkwa Kapo Equay (Bear Standing Woman) and she is of the Bear Clan. Eva and her husband Abe have collaborated on songs, artwork, and books. Abe’s art has been incorporated into her first book “Alive Again - A Journey From The Storms Of Life”. This book contains a message of hope to those who are haunted by past abuse issues as well as exercises for the reader to begin their own healing journey from emotional issues including depression and anxiety. Mrs. Kakepetum has been a mental health/addiction counselor for the past 34 years and has gained a wealth of knowledge from her clients as well as from her past abuse issues. It is Abe and Eva’s prayer that the knowledge of the First Nation Culture be preserved through written, visual, and musical form. Teachings of the culture to our youth is of uppermost importance as they are our future and they need to preserve the teachings as well. “Our Elders are passing on to their final resting place and, without sharing the knowledge of the culture and language…all will be lost. To lose the teachings of a culture is to become lost within ourselves.
