The purpose of this book is to help you build a more successful volunteer program. Simply stated, that is it, but simple the task is not. It will require a large dose of common sense, combined with a solid understanding of people, a dab of contemporary management and leadership theory, plus a large amount of praise and recognition. People volunteer for many different reasons and the more we know about our volunteers the easier our recruiting and the higher our retention rate. Getting and keeping good people is really the key to a successful volunteer program.

Dr. Bill Wittich is a speaker and author in the field of leadership, motivation, and nonprofit management. Bill earned his doctorate from the University of Southern California For the past twelve years, Bill and his wife Ann, have traveled an average of 200 days a year. Their speaking schedule has taken them to all corners of the United States and through much of Europe. Dr. Wittich has authored ten books in the association & non-profit leadership field. His most recent book is SeminarBiz: How to Make Money in the Seminar Business. Bill is a professional member of the National Speakers Association and is the Past President of the Northern California Chapter. They enjoy living in Northern California where they enjoy cooking, collecting antiques, and learning about red wine
