If you are into reenacting from the German perspective and have not heard of this book, or do not own it, GET IT. It is a treasure trove of information on many aspects of German soldiering, especially pre-war. It talks about how to pack your tornister, how to behave in public, what to do when insulted, how to address superiors, and many, many other things. It goes over polishing your leather equipment, field expedient rifle maintenance, covers a soldiers duty, armored vehicles, marching security, and too many other things to list. It lacks only one thing. The appendices alluded to in the table of contents are ALL missing. The book stops at page 184 and should go to 191. Still, a very valuable book on German soldier regulations. If you want to understand the system in which the German soldier performed get this book. You'll just need to find Rank tables and the other missing tables to supplement the book. --Dan Piatt
