Born restless, Doug Buchs gave up a full scholarship to Colgate University to ride horseback across America instead. He cowboyed in Aspen, felled timber in Wyoming, worked the "kill floor" in a Denver slaughterhouse, hauled freight cross country in his own rig, and ran heavy equipment in Alaska. He's worked as an artist's model, and crossed the country in handcuffs.
