Hashish is a lost Romantic masterpiece; it is a book so rare and sought-after that only two copies can be found anywhere in the world. This illustrated legend, set in Algeria, is presented as a 'pictorial opera' of love, hashish and tragedy in the time of Victorian erotica. The text is accompanied by gorgeous poems and songs. It also contains the first known illustrations and descriptions of true hashish hallucinations, as illustrated by the German artist Gottfried Sieben. All 50 of the original images are reproduced in this volume.
