Synopsis

Since the election of Obama, there has been a call for progressives to move beyond partisanship by reaching out to evangelicals to create an umbrella of opinion on big issues such as abortion and marriage equality. However, this approach may do little more than allowing a conservative minority to control the religious debate. Schultz, a leading progressive voice, builds upon the insights of Brueggemann to indentify five scripts that exercise unseen power in society to confront them, the Left and the Right, voicing a perspective that is truely progressive.
