Synopsis

Prayer was the vital component of George Mueller's 19th-century ministry. In Answers to Prayer, Mueller reveals how powerful and spiritually rewarding prayer can be. Mueller lived a life of total dependence on God. One of Mueller's chief rules was to never tell others needs, but only to ask God for help. Answers to Prayer is a collection of excerpts, like a journal, describing the ways God did indeed answer Mueller's prayers. The powerful ways that God provided are touching, with power to encourage and challenge. There isn't a more powerful account of God's faithfulness to His children than Answers to Prayer, an amazing testimony to the power of prayer in one man's life, that shows how every believer can appropriate the promises of God for themselves. "I seek at the beginning to get my heart into such a state that it has no will of its own in regard to a given matter. Nine-tenths of the trouble with people generally is just here. Nine-tenths of the difficulties are overcome when our hearts are ready to do the Lord's will, whatever it may be. When one is truly in this state, it is usually but a little way to the knowledge of what His will is."

""George Mueller (1805-1898) was born in Prussia. He became an evangelist and the director of the Ashley Down Orphanage in Bristol, England, where he cared for more than 10,000 orphans during his life. He provided shelter, clothing, food, and an education for each of his orphans. He also established 117 schools, which offered Christian education to over 120,000 children. A great man of faith, he never appealed for funds, but simply asked God to supply the needs, which the Lord faithfully did.""
