He earned the grandmaster title in 1998 and is one of the most popular chess authors in the world today. His books include the four Chess Puzzle Books, as well as the best-selling Bobby Fischer: The Career and Complete Games of the American World Chess Champion, among others.

Alex Markgraf is an experienced chess trainer and has developed many excercise manuals and other material used to instruct his students.
