Jan Dargatz has written more than a hundred books using several pen names, most of those books in the nonfiction realm. Some of her writing has been fiction for preteens and children, but Molly Never Dreamed of Going to the New Year’s Eve Bash with her Postman is one of her first novellas for the adult market. Jan likens her novella writing to “a ride on a wild-mouse roller coaster in the dark—lots of twists and turns, and very little predictability.” Jan has said, “In Molly and the Postman and my other novellas, I try to create a tale that can be consumed on a transcontinental flight or a long winter’s evening by the fireplace—several hours of story that has fun ideas to think about later, and interesting characters a person might like to encounter and perhaps come to know as friends. There’s a spiritual undertone, and a romantic edge—but nothing in Molly and the Postman smacks of a religious romance. But then again . . . .”
