Janie Lidey is a speaker, author and Emmy Award winning composer who dedicated herself to teaching music in the public schools of Alaska for 26 years. She started out teaching music in remote, fly-in only villages and in 2011, after 17 years as choir director and guitar teacher at Grammy Award winning East High School, Janie took a leap of faith, stepped out of the safety and comfort of one school and made the world her classroom. Lidey has been recognized for her excellence through winning an Emmy for her songwriting; a Grammy for the fine arts program she helped direct at East High School in Anchorage, Alaska; the Mayor's Arts Award which recognizes excellence in music education; and, a spot on the George Lucas Edutopia website for her role in helping make the world a better place.
