Synopsis

Betrayed for a sentient sword. His friends dead or dying. Barr awakens in a realm between worlds where thought itself can carry him across the mists.

After the events of The Last Incarnation, Barr wakes in the waters and starry darkness of a strange plane inhabited by living shadows. Here, swirling mists make travel by thought possible—but their power comes at a terrible price.

The balance is maintained by the Matron of the Mists: Barr's mother.

Her strength is failing.

Without Aislin, the sentient sword that once helped sustain her, every use of the mists opens a portal to the Dark. For a brief moment, umbrals can cross into the realm—and each opening brings catastrophe closer.

Now more than the Matron's life is at stake. Faeronthalsos and every life on every world could be consumed.

Barr must confront a world between worlds, the power of the living mists, and a threat capable of reaching across dimensions.

The Mists of Faeron continues J.A. Giunta's epic dark fantasy trilogy The Ascension, beginning with The Last Incarnation.

Présentation de l'éditeur

Betrayed for a sentient sword called Aislin, his friends dead or dying, Barr woke in the waters and starry dark of a strange realm. A place where living shadows moved about, a plane between planes, it was a world of swirling mist that allowed for travel by thought alone. Its benefits were not without cost. There was a balance to maintain, a price in furie to be paid by the Matron of the Mists – Barr’s mother. Without Aislin, her strength waned. Each use of the mists opened a portal to the Dark, a brief moment when umbrals could pass through. More than the Matron’s life, all of Faeronthalsos, every life on every world, was in danger of being consumed. Rather than face losing the mother he had only just met, Barr was determined to find and return the sword. Meanwhile, Markus and his revenants did the bidding of a mad god. Little stood in their way but Barr, his friends and... The Mists of Faeron.
