Synopsis

After the tragic death of a dear friend, Cynthia Kane found that life was too short to spend time being misunderstood or misheard or misrepresenting her needs and desires. Because of this, she learned that the first step to communicating better withothers was to first begin to communicate better with herself. From this principle, she searched and discovered Buddhism's Four Elements of Right Speech - tell the truth, don't exaggerate, be consistent and use peaceful language. These principles were expanded upon to form the five steps in HOW TO COMMUNICATE LIKE A BUDDHIST:

· Listen to yourself.

· Speak consciously, concisely and clearly.

· Listen to others.

· Regard silence as a part of speech.

· Meditate.

By following these steps, readers will become aware of what they communicate to themselves (truths or untruths that they tell themselves) and learn how to speak to others, how to listen to others and how and when to effectively use silence. Ending the book in meditation allows readers to reflect upon their communication with themselves and others and brings awareness to how they interact with both themselves and the world at large.
