Fifty years after the end of World War II, a high school principal in a small, northern New York village unearthed a box containing more than a thousand letters. The letters had been written by the young soldiers and sailors from the village serving all over the globe. Poignant and witty revelations of life in the service, these letters are a glimpse into what these young people experienced thousands of miles from their Adirondack home. The book ranges from the opening days of World War II to the defeat of Japan. Len's Boys were there from the bombing of Pearl Harbor to the surrender in Berlin and they wrote home about it. Full texts of hundreds of the letters are accompanied by historical background of the war.
