Synopsis

Nearly 60% of U.S. companies face a leadership talent shortage. As we face fast-changing technology, global competition and a multi-generational workforce, that shortage has frightening implications for today’s organizations and America’s future. Driven by her own passion for leadership, Teri Citterman was inspired to ask 20 top CEOs what they are doing to develop leaders in this unprecedented time. These leaders share their own stories and inspirations, identify the must-have leadership traits (and derailers) for the future and offer provocative and unconventional advice. As you read about leadership in their words, you’ll be challenged to define your views on leadership and to take action. First, author Teri Citterman is a phenomenal writer, and brings punch to the topic of leadership. Second, Teri lets a group of fantastic CEOs tell you their stories, so that you get direct insights from those who have been there and done that. Third, Teri brings her own unique experiences to the table, so that you get the additional perspective of a great writer, coach, and someone who is passionate about how we create more leaders in a world that needs them. I guarantee you that you will find at least one nugget of wisdom in this book that more than justifies your investment in reading it." À propos de l'auteur

Teri Citterman is a student of the question. She has a fearless curiosity and finds that the best way to get to know someone is by inquiring… As an Author, Speaker, Certified Executive Coach, Writing Coach & Ghostwriter, what is your mission? My mission is to be a mind reader. To help leaders articulate their messages, by saying what they’re truly thinking, in a way that engages and motivates employees, customers, investors and other stakeholders. What is your edge? I have a keen ear for what’s not being said — and can quickly connect insights to actions that move people forward. You say you’re fearlessly curious. What does that mean? I’m fearless in my approach. I ask the challenging questions others think, but don’t say. Those are what open the doors to the powerful thinking. It’s the same approach I take with my passion for trapeze. I listen with laser focus, jump in with no fear and wait for the weightless moments – where the boldest insights reveal themselves. What do you consider your super power? Courage How’d you get to this point? My experience draws on 20 years of advising CEOs on issues related to internal and external communications. Formerly, I served as head of corporate communications for a leading education technology company. In addition, I’m an award-winning writer, author of Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest, and contributor to the Puget Sound and Portland Business Journals, Wine Press Northwest and Seattle Metropolitan Magazine on entrepreneurship, biotech, technology, education, retail, real estate, hospitality and lifestyle. What are people surprised to find out about you? I have EU Citizenship. What are your favorite things? Travel, wine, aerial trapeze, skiing and watching movies early in the morning while it’s still dark out. I’m part of a child-raising-team for a fantastic 11 year old. I think I’m very lucky.
