Synopsis

A gangster story. A mysterious man, who goes by the name of Shannon, appears out of nowhere in the high plains of Kansas. Once an enforcer for the mob in Chicago, he is desperately wanting to break away from that lifestyle by fleeing across the country. Only no one can simply resign from that type of job. Now he is being chased by assassins sent by his former boss who is determined to retire Shannon, permanently. While fleeing, Shannon is wounded and the chase comes to a sudden halt in the city of Wichita, Kansas. There, he experiences a temporary reprieve from running at a religious outreach center called The Refuge. The center is located a rough area of town. An area controlled by a local thug. As Shannon heals and finds solace in The Refuge, he reflects on his past and possible future, all the while battling doubts of his ability to change and become a new person. Events come to a head as his past quickly closes in on him, forcing him to make decisions he would rather avoid. Can Shannon flee a past that still haunts him? Can he change who he had become and begin again as a new person? And, more importantly, will his future accept him?
