Sheila Bender is an award winning poet, author and master writing instructor. She is the founder of WritingItReal.com, an online community that facilitates writing from personal experience via online classes, editing, coaching and resources for writers. Her publications include a memoir: A New Theology: Turning to Poetry in a Time of Grief; a new poetry collection: Behind Us the Way Grows Wider, and many books on writing including Creative Writing DeMystified. Sheila served as a Distinguished Lecturer in Seattle University’s Creative Writing Program. She lives in Port Townsend, WA where she teaches regularly for local writing organizations. She also travels across the country as faculty for writing conferences.
