Synopsis

As Director of Human Resources for a large manufacturing company, Connor Stone knows how to handle inappropriate behavior in the workplace. But when he is personally involved in such behavior, Connor Stone finds himself in uncharted territory where the lines between right and wrong become blurred. Connor Stone is a fictional character created by the author to tell the story.

The story was inspired by events I encountered during my human resources career.
As I started to write, I soon realized that the story would provide me with the opportunity to expose the discrimination and harassment that many people face in today’s workplace.

The things portrayed in the story are graphic and shocking, while at the same time being a realistic example of what takes place at work. Some readers have told me they were not aware that the things I described in the book were actually taking place in some workplaces. But then, other readers have given me examples of events they experienced that were similar to what I have in the book.

Readers that have experienced harassment and discrimination are cautioned that several of the events in the story are graphic and could trigger memories of past experiences. This may be difficult for some readers. HR Behind Closed Doors is only suitable for adult readers because the story contains sex and profanity. Just like the real world.
Most of this story takes place in and around Mantorville, Minnesota, a community the author has come to love and cherish.
