• CLEAR & CONCISE: Tight case editing, focused questions, and topical problems direct students' attention to the most critical issues. The book covers the full sweep of the subject, but is still short enough that the core topics can be taught in a 3-credit survey course. • UP-TO-DATE COVERAGE: The sixth edition features fifteen new principal cases and other primary materials, along with numerous new and revised notes, problems, and questions. A new section on the physical world examines how doctrines and themes from Internet law are bleeding back into the offline world, with coverage of 3D printing, drones, robots, the Internet of Things, and the sharing economy. New cases deal with Bitcoin, fair use, the demise of the E.U. Safe Harbor, password sharing, and the limits of Section 230. Other materials cover recent developments including the Apple iPhone unlocking controversy and the $140 million verdict in Bollea v. Gawker. • TECHNICAL AND HISTORICAL NOTES: Mini-essays throughout the book provide the essential technical background needed to make sense of computer and Internet technologies. Where modern doctrine has important historical roots (e.g., network neutrality and telecommunications regulation), the book gives the necessary context.
