“This work offers nothing less than the renewal of our Church.” -Rv. Cn. Dr. Robert Droste For Episcopalians, the words “disciple” and “discipleship” can be off-putting. The words challenge us and raise difficult questions. They are often associated with churches quite different from ours. Few Episcopalians seem to use the words to describe themselves. Yet we’re convinced that if we reclaim and strengthen our sense of discipleship, we will experience the kind of energy, creativity, compassion and courage that are promised to those who commit themselves to following Jesus Christ. We will receive a sense of direction and a sense of purpose—and the energy needed to carry out that purpose over a lifetime. In creating Discipleship for Episcopalians, we have taken timeless principles of Christian discipleship and woven them into living as disciples in the Episcopal tradition.
